Delivering A Taste of Hospitality
Freeport Memorial Hospital now offers a "room service menu," delivering a taste of hotel hospitality to its patients. Freeport Memorial is the first hospital in northwest Illinois to offer this service and one of only about 100 throughout the country.
"At Your Request Room Service Dining" is offered by Sodexho Food Service, which services the hospital. It is a program that allows patients to choose when they want to eat, as well as what they want to eat from a wide variety of options. After making choices from the menu, patients call in their order. The meal is delivered within 45 minutes, as all of the food items are freshly prepared.
This is an innovative new concept in patient meal service. Traditionally, patients have had to plan their meals 24 hours in advance, and eat when the meal arrived. This new service gives the patients more flexibility, since meals may be ordered at any time, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Assistance in ordering is available, and there is a non-select option for patients who do not wish to choose their meals. Patients requiring special diets are guided in their choices.
