FHN employees surpass goal, raise over $160,000

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of FHN Memorial Hospital, and affirm FHN's commitment to the future, the 1,500 employees of FHN pledged to raise $100,000 this year.  Employees, through the Partners in Giving (PIG) program, surpassed their goal and actually pledged $160,330.95.
The money raised through this annual campaign is administered by the Heart of Memorial Trust, the fund-raising arm of FHN.  The gift was presented on Sept. 12 to Stephen Lafferty, chairman of the Board of Directors of Heart of Memorial Trust, and Dr. Robert Geller, Vice President and Medical Director of FHN, representing the FHN Board of Directors.
Employees' contributions help FHN enhance the quality of services offered to the community.  Employees could choose to make a one-time contribution, payroll deduction, or donate their time off.
The 2002 Partners in Giving campaign was launched on June 19 at a PIGnic Pig Roast for all employees.  Throughout the summer, several contests, raffles and special events have been held, including a decorated ceramic pig contest and auction, a weekly 50/50 "Bring Home the Bacon" raffle, and the sale of "100 Grand" candy bars.
FHN is a not-for-profit organization.  With the government continuing to lower and/or delay Medicare/Medicaid payments, the need to raise money from community partners and employees is as great as it's ever been.  Outside donations have brought such advancements as a state-of-the-art Cancer Center, a modern labor/delivery OB unit and an onsite MRI facility.
The money raised in this campaign will be used to fund a "wish list" of needs suggested by staff to enhance qulaity of patient care.
As a reward for the hard work of the Partners in Giving committee, which spearheaded the campaign, the 19-member committee was chosen to receive the 2002 Heart of Gold Award, which will be presented at a later date by the Heart of Memorial Trust Board of Directors.
Members of the committee were Pam Busker, Juli Dillman, Tammy Dornink, Tammy Edler, Midge Elkins, Linda Ellefson, Grant Gentz, Wendy Gustafson, Forrest Harris, Laura Mack, Melissa Namio, Sharon Serna, Dana Smith, Greg Stanforth, Jesse Stewart, Jacquelin Wehrenberg, Michael Williams, Rhona Woodley and Dean Wright.
